What would you like to see more of in the workplace?
Women in positions of power.
What characteristics and/or qualities do you admire in the women you work with?
I admire their tenacity and perseverance. Some of these women have faced incredible odds and still won – with kindness.
What advice did you wish you were given earlier in your career?
Every time you fail, or get kicked down, it makes you more courageous and wiser. Look for the lesson in every failure and see your competitors as the best teachers.
How do you think COVID-19 will change the future of work for women?
What we have seen since COVID-19 are women losing their capacity to do it all. Many have had to step down from their roles in order to educate and mind their children. COVID-19 has taught us a valuable lesson that the patriarchy is still dominant and that it continues to perpetuate old beliefs in gender, religion, race and economy.
With that realization, the women who are already at the top need to scream louder than ever before to create the equality we need. Employers need to be more forgiving with what COVID-19 has done for the workplace and the companies that are run/led by woman will become the strongest.
How do you think we can increase diversity in the workplace?
More womxn in positions of power. More womxn CEO’s, presidents, VP’s and speakers. Womxn need to use their platforms to not only be the example but to showcase how big the gap remains. The louder our collective voices, the more equality we can bring, and the more womxn will be at the table.
What is one example of a positive, memorable experience you’ve had in your career?
Having run a $1M PR agency with clients that were predominately white men in the valley. We had to navigate the inequality but absolutely spoke up when shit went south.
What was one belief you had that you later realized was a myth?
Women can have full autonomy over their money and still be successful.
Why are you fabulous?
Because I have defied the odds and still believe in what I can do!
Do you have a mantra or quote that inspires you?
“If you are gracious, you have already won.” – Stevie Nicks
